Understanding Job Modes (Dispatch vs. Task Modes)
Dispatch Mode
Dispatch Mode is designed for coordinating and assigning work to field agents who operate outside the core eConstruction system. It enables office teams to quickly create jobs, assign workers, and dispatch work to the field with minimal friction.
How Dispatch Mode Works
In Dispatch Mode, users can:
- Create jobs within the Jobs module
- Assign one or more workers to each job
- Define timelines and job details
- Dispatch jobs directly to field agents
Once a job is dispatched, the assigned field agents receive a secure link via notification. This link provides access to the Jobs Portal, where they can:
- View assigned jobs
- See job timelines and details
- Access only the information relevant to their work
Field agents do not need full access to the eConstruction platform to use Dispatch Mode.
When to Use Dispatch Mode
Dispatch Mode is ideal when:
- Managing field crews or contractors who are not system users
- Quickly assigning and sending jobs to the field
- Minimizing system access while maintaining visibility into job assignments
- Coordinating time-sensitive or operational work
Key Benefits
- Fast job creation and dispatch
- Simple field access via link (no login required)
- Clear visibility into assigned work and timelines
- Reduced administrative overhead
Task Mode
Task Mode is designed for internal project management within eConstruction. It allows Project Managers to assign jobs directly to system users and track progress in real time.
How Task Mode Works
In Task Mode, Project Managers can:
- Create jobs as structured tasks
- Assign jobs to users within the eConstruction system
- Track job status and progress directly in the platform
- Monitor completion, updates, and accountability
All activity remains centralized within eConstruction, providing full visibility across projects and teams.
When to Use Task Mode
Task Mode is best suited for:
- Managing internal teams and system users
- Tracking progress and accountability within projects
- Coordinating work that requires ongoing oversight
- Integrating jobs into broader project workflows
Key Benefits
- Real-time progress tracking
- Clear ownership and accountability
- Centralized job management within the system
- Better alignment with project timelines and deliverables
